Hey, what’s going on? Kenney Conwell here and welcome to this particular module. Pulling Your Credit Reports and welcome to cleaning your glass. So this is the absolute first step that we have to do before we start cleaning our glass i.e cleaning our credit report and we need to know exactly what’s on our credit report. So this is going to be a quicker module. I’m just going to show you some resources that you can use to pull your credit reports. Literally for free. How to check the updates and all that good stuff. So let’s go ahead and hop right in. So here is what we’re going to cover. So credit monitoring versus credit reports and why you need to know the difference, then I’m going to break down AnnualCreditreport.com and how you can leverage this resource to your benefit every 12 months if you haven’t already. I’m going to break down how to get a free copy of your TransUnion report.
I’m going to show you how to get a free copy of your Experian report. And then I’m going to show you how to get a free copy of your Equifax report as well. So all of these things in steps are going to be very, very essential as you build up with this process. So again, we have to know exactly where we stand. So, and not just know where we stand in looking at Credit Karma, or looking at one of these sites. We need to know the actual data that’s on our reports and these resources are really good resource to use to do that. So as we start building up on each week and in each module, this is going to help you do that. So don’t skip this step. Don’t say, Oh, I already have my credit report. I’m going to skip this. No, don’t do that. Do not do that.
Go through this step. Go through this process it’s because you’re going to go on live Q&A and say, Kenney, I’m having issues with this. And I’m like, well, did you complete pulling your credit report? No, because I already had it. No, you need to complete it this way. So, all right. So follow this step specifically. Now, credit monitoring or free credit reports versus credit monitoring. So again, you can get your free credit report. You’re entitled as a consumer, you and I, every 12 months to get a free credit report. The thing about your free credit report, what this is going to do is show the information about you or the content of your report. So this is really, really powerful to get. It goes in a really, really a lot of detail. So typically when you pull your credit report from annualcreditreport.com, it might be like 50, 60 pages.
So although that’s really, really good, it could be a little bit overwhelming or overly detailed in terms of what you need to actually challenge, but it’s still good for you to have that information about you. And it’s not going to provide your score. That’s the other thing you need to understand is that, although you can get a copy of your annual credit report for free, it’s not going to give you your score, right? Now, credit monitoring is a solution you definitely want to have and in another module I’m going to cover it in terms of why you need to. But what credit monitoring does is a service offered to track the activity on your credit report from all three bureaus (Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax) So it’s going to be a simple way to get your information condensed. It’s also going to provide you with a score in a 3B report, in 3B report only means three bureau report.
It’s going to provide you a simple and easy way to review all the content i.e. the data points from your credit reports. So this is why you want to have credit monitoring. And this is really the difference. So your annualcredit report.com is only going to give you that once a year. And it’s going to be overwhelming versus credit monitoring is something you want to be able to use on a monthly basis and on an ongoing basis. You don’t want to have to wait one year before you can see and look at your credit report. And that’s why you want to have credit monitoring i.e. that’s a difference between the two. Now, the thing about credit monitoring, it’s going to give you your report and score on a monthly basis. Now, AnnualCreditReport.com. So, what you want to do is go to this website and essentially open up an account or request your credit report.
So this is one of the ways. So you can request your report for free through annualcreditreport.com. So the way you would do that is if you just went right here. I’ve got the site pulled up, you can come over in anannualcreditreport.com. You would hit request your report. Now again, you get a free copy of each report. So what you would do is it’s going to ask you to establish an account. Then it’s going to take you to Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. Each bureau directly. Now, sometimes you may run into issues with the security questions. If that’s the case, you may have to mail information or call information, but essentially you can start with requesting it online. So this is the first way, you can request your credit report is annualcreditreport.com. Really simple, just come right here. Request information. Request your credit reports, and then you’re just going to fill out this data here and make sure the information that you have is accurate.
So that’s annualcreditreport.com. Now, the next way to pull your credit report and the other thing I want to kind of get into is how to get your credit reports directly from each bureau specific specifically, and essentially the reason why you want to do this is a second in a way, but the reason why you want to do this as this is going to give you a deep review of your personal information, show on each credit bureau. So we want to know the personal information on our credit bureau. So in a previous module, I broke down what personal identifier information is. So you’re going to be able to see it from your credit monitoring, but like sites like Credit Karma, they’re not going to go into much detail about the personal data about you. So we want to be able to get it at the bureau level.
This is also going to be helpful. So you can see the status of your challenges when you send them to each Bureau. So when you establish an account directly with each bureau, what it does is it gives you status updates of the challenges. If you want to have those status updates electronically. You don’t necessarily have to get them because the way we challenge, the way I’m going to teach you, you’re still going to get those updates via the mail anyways. But if you want to see them online and see the status and you’re bored one night, you can do that. The other thing that this is going to help you do, and I’m going to walk you through it is give you the ability to number one, gather all the data about your personal information. So again, we would want to have one name, one address, one employer, one phone number.
We don’t want to have multiple names, multiple addresses, multiple employers, because it just doesn’t look good. And all that data could be associated with bad or previous negative accounts. So we want to clean it up. This also going to prepare you for the next step in the process. So don’t skip this. Now, one thing I’m going to tell you upfront is that TransUnion and Experian are easy to get this from when you’re creating this account. Equifax is a little bit harder to set up. Only because of the timing issues and what you have to do when you’re pulling it. Now, let’s go and hop right in. So TransUnion really, really simple right below this video, I provided this link along with a TransUnion report cheatsheet. Now, I’ll give you a copy or show you. So you would just come over here to TransUnion website.
And once you’re here, you would click on Credit Help, and then Disputes. But this cheatsheet right here, that I have, walked you through the entire process step by step. So again, even though it’s saying dispute, you’re not going to dispute any accounts with this process. You’re simply getting this report. So you can take a deeper dive at the TransUnion level. Specifically to see what TransUnion has with your personal information. So this cheatsheet walks you through step by step, exactly how to do it. So you will click right here, Disputes. Start with dispute. You’re going to establish your account. So you either have an account or you need to create an account. So with TransUnion, if you’ve come here before, if it’s been over 12 months, then you’re going to need to, re-establish an account. If it’s been under 12 months and you’ve done this before, you can simply hit forgot username and password, and it’ll help you reset your password.
Right? Then once you, whichever option you choose to be able to open up an account. It’s just going to ask you for your personal information. Then you’ll be able to come back. Log in with those credentials and then follow the process. You need to update your user agreement with them. Agree that these four boxes. So you, so you move forward. So you’ve got to do that. And then it’s going to give you the status of any investigations or any previous investigations that you may have had or any pending investigations if you’re still, if you’re going through a credit repair process. Now, and then you’ll be able to check the status of your investigation. Now, the thing about this is you’re only doing this, so you can get the data about your personal information with TransUnion, right? That’s what you’re doing.
So in the next step, we’re going to break down auditing and also with TransUnion, we’re not going to do it yet. We’re just getting the information. When we start doing the challenge process, TransUnion is the only of the three that will allow you to update the information as a request online, which is really, really powerful. TransUnion, in my opinion is ahead of the curve from a technology perspective, when it comes to doing this personal identifier information. But again, we’re not disputing any accounts online with this because of obvious reasons that I’ve already covered. Now, that’s TransUnion. The next thing is Experian and Experian is fairly simple and you may have already have an Experian account. So, you know, I have a cheatsheet as well, right below. Along with the Experian link. And this is the Experian cheatsheet. So it was fairly simple. You’re going to click on Credit Report Assistance, then you’re going to click on Start Your Dispute Online. And again, you’re not disputing online per se. You’re doing this, or you’re hitting this route, the dispute online routes. So you can get a copy of your credit report. So if for whatever reason, you are unable
to get your Experian report for free with annualcreditreport.com, you can come over here and get your Experian report number one, and then number two, what this is going to do when you establish the account is give you the ability to do that online dispute for your personal information. But again, at this step, we’re only establishing the account. So in the next step, we can do the audit. So you go over here, click on Online Dispute, and then it’s going to prompt you to establish an account. Now, if you already have an account, you’ll be able to log in with your username and password. If you don’t have an account with Experian.com, then you can create an account. And then for security purposes, it’s going to send you a text message to your mobile phone. So you can establish that. Now, you can do the same exact process. When we go into the next step, we’re just gathering this personal data so we know what information we need to challenge about ourselves from a personal identifier perspective. Now, the next one is Equifax and Equifax of the three is the hardest. So this is the direct site to Equifax. Now with this Equifax report, you’ll be able
to log in and I have the bullet points here. So let me just go over the bullet points so I cover all of them and you understand. So, of the three, Equifax is the most complicated and the reason why it’s the most complicated is when you log in, you’re logging in to get your personal data, but you necessarily, you need to get the personal data so you know, but once you log in, that username and password that’s created specifically with this consumer Equifax report is only valid for 30 days and I’ll show you.
So when we go back over to this Equifax report, I provided this link below this video, this link is not necessarily for you to use for credit monitoring or anything like that. This is really specifically, so you can get the data about your Equifax report. So you would just come over here and fill out this, fill out this information. So you can get a copy of your report. So, you can check any of these boxes. There’s a few of these boxes that are free, and there’s a few of these boxes where it might charge you. So it outlines the free options here that you can do. So if you happen to be a victim of fraud or you think you a victim of fraud or whatever the case is, you can hit that button, choose that box, and you’ll be able to get through this for free.
So essentially, and then whatever the username and password is, you need to keep that handy. So when the next step, I’ll be able to explain how to essentially do the analysis or the audit so to speak, all right? So this is how you obtain all of your credit reports directly from each bureau and get that data so you know exactly what’s on your credit report. All right. So I will see you in the next module. Take action. Get this done. The resources are below this video. The cheatsheets are below this video and I will see you in the next video. Peace.
